Amphibious Bridge

This project called for the development of a bridge from Six Mile Island, a small, isolated island in the Allegheny River, to the nearby shoreline in Pittsburgh, PA. 

​

Throughout the development of this project, my goal was to create a liminal space, not only between island and shore, but more importantly between air and water.

​

This liminality is an opportunity for humans to be placed in an uncomfortable environment where they are asked to experience a space that is designed to serve aquatic life and plant growth.
