Concept
According to ancient mythology, the Greek gods hold power far beyond the human world. The Olympians, a group of the most powerful gods, occupy Mount Olympus, a picturesque land in the realm of the gods.
At Mount Olympus Theme Park, mortals are invited to explore the worlds of the 12 principal gods through attractions, stage shows, and restaurants that immerse guests into the mythology. In some cases they will experience the atmosphere of various realms while other experiences will ask them to follow the story of a famous myth.
All design has been done entirely by Katia Peppas, and is drawn from public domain mythology.
Each attraction is inspired by the mythos of one of the Greek gods or monsters.
Ride Concept: The Underworld is the kingdom of Hades, the god of the dead. It exists somewhere far underground, and in the far West beyond the sunset. On the surface of the Earth, a cave, chasm, or lake can communicate with the Underworld, but the River Styx serves as a boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead.
Ride Layout:
1 Attraction Entrance
2 Queue
3 Boat Loading
4 Cold air hits guests as our guide, Charon, welcomes them to the river via voiceover
5 An animatronic of Charon continues to guide guests
6 Cerberus, the three headed dog, serves as guard of the Underworld
7 Souls of those past, stuck in the liminal space of the river, swim under the boats
8 As boats move through the Gates of Hades, the water turns a murky purple while the air fills with fog
9 Guests exit their boats, having arrived at the Underworld
Mount Olympus Park's free-to-download guide app has Hermes, the messenger god, serving as guests' personal tour guide.
The app includes annotated park maps, wait times, ride descriptions, live show times, and restaurant menus.
